Jerry Cawley has been involved with Data Vortex since late 2008 and joined the Data Vortex team two years ago as the Director of Operations. In this role, he helps identify and speak with potential investors and assists in managing business operations.
Jerry has a bachelors degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in Education, both from the University of Minnesota. After teaching high school math courses for three years, he worked for Control Data Corporation for twenty years initially as an analyst and then as a manager in its large mainframe operating system software organization. He also worked in various management positions for CDC’s computer-based education program. Following that, he became Vice President of Software Application Development and was quickly promoted to president of a small software services company, Cardinal Health Systems, a provider of computer-based continuing education for doctors, pharmacists and nurses and software search systems for large medical databases for publishers. He was able to negotiate the sale of the company to a printing company from which he retired after two years.
What skills and expertise do you bring to the table?
I recognized almost immediately after hearing about the Data Vortex technology that there was a tremendous opportunity to help society with this technology. I have been enthusiastic in getting the Data Vortex story out to my friends and acquaintances. Also, I have many years of experience running a small technology company, and because of this experience, I have been able to help with several different business issues.
How has being involved with Data Vortex positively affected your business/industry expertise and career?
I had actually retired after selling my software services company, and then I heard about Data Vortex. I have learned a great deal about computer hardware, especially large systems. I have been able to learn about many applications that can be greatly improved by Data Vortex technology and thus help society solve previously unsolvable problems.
What is the best piece of leadership advice you have received? How have you incorporated that into your position at Data Vortex?
Treat everyone you meet as your most important customer, and try to figure out how you can help that person in some way.
Where will the most significant growth occur in the HPC market in the next few years? How will DV address and serve that market?
Big Data analytic problems–Data Vortex will enable data analytics application software developers to solve bigger and more complex problems than is currently possible.
What makes Data Vortex stand out in the HPC market?
Date Vortex solves a network congestion problem that will allow a gigantic leap forward in solving complex, large problems in a very straight-forward programming approach.
If you could tell customers only one key thing about Data Vortex, what would you say?
This revolutionary technology will enable HPC application developers to solve large, difficult problems that will improve society in a multitude of ways.
What do you like to do in your leisure time?
I enjoy following my family members in their athletic endeavors.
